"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." 1 Peter 3:15

Let Your Light Shine

As Christians we are called to be children of the light (1 Thessalonians 5:5).

As children of the light we are to be the light, not adding to the darkness of this world.

What is the purpose of the light? To help us see

We are to help others see the source of the light.

I am constantly telling my kids and our youth group to let their lights shine. Why? Because it is soooooo easy to blend in, follow the crowd, be lukewarm, hiding our light under the disguise of fitting in.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16

We are to let our lights shine, not so that others see us, but that they see the source of our light.

There is a song with the lyrics "let your light shine" that I was going to add to this post, but I cannot find the version I was thinking of and Elijah and I looked for a looooooong time. However, there are LOTS of different songs with the lyrics in them, if you just want to look one up and listen it it, LOL.

What keeps you from letting your light shine?
