"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." 1 Peter 3:15

Little glimpses of happiness

I am in a difficult season. It has been seven months since I have found the time/will-power/motivation/whatever you want to call it, to do a post like this. It's not that I haven't had things to be thankful for, I have. I am just on the struggle bus.

But, this = Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. Psalm 150:6

Thursday Encouragement 11/20/25

It has been a long week! I am thankful it is Wednesday and the weekend is in sight! Our house is officially sold, with all the obstacles removed and we will be closing in a few short weeks. We have looked at 8 houses so far this week, in between working and going our regular things. While we are ready to find our next new home, we are trying not to rush into anything.

Thursday Encouragement 11/13/2025

We had snow for the first time this season. I was not ready, but it was pretty! We still have a little snow on the ground, but each day has been progressively getting warmer, so it will be gone soon. If you are following along on the house saga, we are officially under contract again, but they still have to sell their house. We are praying that their house sells and they fulfill the contract to buy ours, and that God would provide the right house for us, in His timing.

Thursday Encouragement 11/6/2025

This has been an incredibly long week...one more day, I think we can. We have had five showings in three days. It has been exhausting but we are so thankful there is interest in our house. We got an offer yesterday and another today, so we are praying about our options and trying to decide the best way to go. Both people still need to sell their house, which makes it sticky situations.

Thursday Encouragement 10/30/25

This has felt like a long week and with it rainy and dreary this morning my motivation got up and walked away. I should have worked out this morning, instead, I offered myself grace and the ability to get ready a little slower for work. My body is very kindly getting me ready for time change by waking me at 4 am 😬. Despite being tired and on the edge of grumpy, there are things I can and am thankful for.

Thursday Encouragement 10/23/25

I went back to the doctor last Thursday. He extended my antibiotics by another 10 days, added two nasal sprays, ordered me to get 15-30 minutes of sunshine each day we have it, and go back on my inhaler (that I rarely use because it's for "as needed.") I am finally feeling better (the cough and some congestion are still here), but I am definitely improving. I have started getting back into ALL my routines this week, and was thrilled to be back with my ladies Bible study group yesterday morning.

Thursday Encouragement 10/16/2025

I had a health setback this week. I started getting sick again last Wednesday, which means I never really got over what I had. I went back to the doctor on Sunday and I have a secondary bacterial infection. She put me on an antibiotic, but I am still sick. This crud does not want to go away.

Thursday Encouragement 10/9/25

This has been a get back into the normal routines week (but add a few extra appointments). I have been tired this week and realized the new med my cardiologist put me on was causing me to have trouble sleeping. So, I have weened myself back off of it, and am hoping for better sleep, or at least for my sleep to regulate to where it was. I am already looking forward to the weekend, even though we don't have any plans.

Thursday Encouragement 10/2/25

I went to the doctor on Friday and I had some wheezing in my bronchial tube. She did an xray, and thankfully I did not have pneumonia. I was still pretty sick on Monday, so my boss gave me another day off. I am thankful for all the days of rest because this virus has kicked my butt. I finally feel like I have turned the corner and am healing.

Thursday encouragement-sick edition 9/25/25

This week has been something else. We left for TN last Friday for my family reunion. It has been over a decade since all my siblings and mom have been together. It was important for us all to be there. Before we left the kids I was working were sick and I just kept praying I didn't get sick. Saturday was the reunion and I praise God I was not sick, and to my knowledge, neither was anyone else. It was a fantastic day. Sunday morning I woke up feeling like I had the flu. Thankfully, I didn't, just a nasty virus, but it knocked me out all day on Sunday, I slept most of the day. We got back from TN yesterday evening and this morning I woke up with a fever and my cough is worse.

Thursday encouragement 9/18/25

I used to do Thursday encouragement posts weekly, but I got derailed. I need all the encouragement I can get. So, I am going to try to resurrect this practice in the hopes that I can offer you some encouragement, or if no one reads it, a place to put things that have encouraged me, or that I am thankful for, or that made me laugh. So, it's probably going to be more of a catchall post.

Thursday Encouragement-on a Friday

I used to do Thursday encouragement posts weekly...but my last one was in 2021! I am not sure what got me derailed, but I need all the encouragement I can get. So, I am going to try to resurrect this practice in the hopes that I can offer you some encouragement, or if no one reads it, a place to put things that have encouraged me, or that I am thankful for, or that made me laugh. So, it's probably going to be more of a catchall post.

Birthday Shenanigans and Tim Hawkins

Elijah's favorite comedian is Tim Hawkins. When Elijah saw in January that Tim Hawkins was touring again this year he decided he wanted to see him in person. We narrowed it down to two dates, April 7th in West Virginia or May 15th in South Carolina.

Laughter

I am going to be really honest. I am really struggling today. We have quite a few stressful things up in the air, my insomnia is out of control, I didn't get much sleep last night, or really any other night this week, my blood pressure has been low, making me miserable and I could go on, but you get the point. I am beyond tired today, and feeling very anxious and out of sorts.

Yet, this kid of mine unintentionally gives me a good laugh.

I told Elijah I was going out to get the mail and that if I didn't come back I drowned in a puddle (it has been POURING here and lots of flooding all over the state), and he said "oh."

I then said, "Or I ran away and I'm not coming back (again the MOOD!)" and he said, "That one would be sad." I started cracking up. I said, "The first one wouldn't be sad?!" He's like, uh...So funny. I know that is not what he meant, but it was definitely what I needed in the moment. Laughter truly is the best medicine and good for the heart.I am super thankful for this kid without a filter.

"A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones."-Proverbs 17:22

What has made you laugh recently?
