"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." 1 Peter 3:15

My Year in Pictures-April 2025

Four months in and I am still remembering to highlight pictures that represent each month. April passed in a whirl and I am thankful for pictures to remind me what happened this month, LOL!

Book blanket

Have you heard of the temperature blanket? It's a blanket that you crochet using different shades of yarn for each temperature. I believe a color represents ten numbers, like blue for temps in the 30's or yellow for temps in the 70's.

Share Four Somethings July 2024

It really is true, the older you get, the faster time goes. Even when you are trying to slow down and cherish the moments. I can't believe we are at the end of July.

Favorite Picture from November

Yes, I know, we are well into December. But, December isn't over yet, so I can still post November's picture, LOL! November was another rough month, with my car going into the shop (and is still there!!), but there was good in the month as well.

Favorite Pictures from September

Yes, I am late on posting this, especially since we are about half way through October 🤦. However, I want to see this through for the year and it's not too late to post 😉.

Favorite Picture from August

Yes, I am waaay late on posting this, especially since we are about half way through October 🤦. I barely remember yesterday, much less August, but I want to see this through for the year, and see what I can come up with for August (and then September, LOL!).

Share Four Somethings-September 2023

I feel like I should start with a confessional, forgive me, Father, for I have sinned...I am not Catholic, nor do I have sins I need to confess here. I had INTENTIONS of posting here more frequently, even started posts, but alas, I failed again. Anyway, I am happy to be able to look back over the month and link up with Jennifer to share my Four Somethings. I will be sharing things I've loved, learned, read, and ate!

Share Four Somethings-June 2023

This post is late. You all, June picked me up, spit me out, and kept me so busy I didn't know if I was coming or going! I can't comprehend that it is already July, the year is half over, and so is the summer! Anyway, I am happy to be able to look back over the month and link up with Jennifer to share my Four Somethings. I will be sharing things I've loved, learned, read, and ate!

Favorite picture of March 2023

I first saw this idea on Jennifer's blog and thought it was a great idea. The idea is to pick one photo from the month, a photo to highlight the month. Jennifer is using the photo to recap the month and at the end of the year see a recap of the year.

Not Ready

Christmas is quickly approaching and I am struggling to believe it is only a week away. I find myself thinking of how I am not ready. I haven't finished shopping. I don't feel like it is Christmas. I feel like the season is passing us by and I haven't had time to stop and enjoy it.

Why?

Birthday Shenanigans and Tim Hawkins

Elijah's favorite comedian is Tim Hawkins. When Elijah saw in January that Tim Hawkins was touring again this year he decided he wanted to see him in person. We narrowed it down to two dates, April 7th in West Virginia or May 15th in South Carolina.

Things that Make Me Happy

I recently read a book called Little Pieces of Hope: Happy-Making Things in a Difficult World by Todd Doughty. In his book Todd has making lists of "Happy-Making Things." While I am not going to talk much about the book itself, I am taking a page out of Todd's book (not literally) and basing this post off his book. If you want to know more about the book itself you can read my review here. I wish I had taken pictures of some of the pages to share with you. Todd shares some on this Instagram post.

Share Four Somethings-January 2022

I have been pretty quiet this month, not posting very much. It's not for a lack of "want to" but more of a "freeze up" when I attempt to write anything. This happens when I am dealing with a heavier dose of depression, I always get quiet, apparently so do my thoughts when it comes time to talk. It seems like forever since my last post on sharing four somethings, even though time still seems to be moving at a rapid pace. Anyway, welcome back to share four somethings, a monthly link-up hosted by Heather Gerwing (thank you Heather!) where you literally share four somethings on the fourth Saturday of the month. The categories are Something Loved, Something Gleaned, Something Braved, and Something Achieved (new topics for a new year!). Even if you do not participate in the link-up, I would love to hear your four somethings from the last month.

Share Four Somethings November 2021

I can't believe Thanksgiving is over and we are fast approaching Christmas. I started Christmas shopping WAY early this year so I only have a few things left to buy. While it was not intentional to start so early I am glad to be almost done.

It's tradition...and I'm traditional

I don't know if your kids ever watched Phineas and Ferb (or if you ever watched it), but my kids loved it. I have explained to people several times why we put up our Thanksgiving decorations on
Thanksgiving day and I get blank stares. As I was thinking of putting them up the phrase "it's tradition and I'm traditional" was marching through my head. Dr. Doofenshmirtz (the bad guy in Phineas and Ferb) sings that line in their version of the Twelve Days of Christmas.

Happy OctNovDecember. I think everyone is confused about what time of year it is. I was in Target yesterday and I saw a display caddie with Halloween and Christmas decorations on it. Seriously! Had I not been in a hurry I would have snapped a picture of it.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I cannot believe July is almost over. I think the summers typically feel like they are going by quick (except maybe last summer), but this summer seems to be speeding by.

Something Loved

I got to spend Fourth of July in Tennessee, seeing two of my siblings and their families. This is a picture of me with my brother and younger sister. To hear more about this trip or just look at all the pictures you can click here

43 Random Facts about me

July is my birth month, I will be 43 next week. And, no, I am not one of those ladies who lies about how old she is. I am not 39 again, or 29 again, I am happy with my age. To me, it is just a number and I am thankful that each year that number gets higher! To God be the glory and thanks for letting me be here another year. I decided in honor of my birthday to share 43 facts about me that you may or may not know. They are not in any particular order.

4th of July 2021

We typically travel for all major holidays. That has been our tradition since the kids were young. With my family scattered across three states and close friends in other states, we travel. Last year we didn't get to because of Covid, so we were super excited to be able to go to Tennessee this year. We stayed with my sister, brother-in-law, and niece. We mostly hung out in or around the pool, except one day that Jennifer and I decided to go shopping. We decided to go to Target and on the way there we decided we would stop at Marshall's on our way back home. After Marshall's we were too tired to do anything else and the kids were disappointed that we were home so soon 😂😂 We were just so tired (me from traveling, her from her job and busy week), that we couldn't think of anything else to do and didn't need to buy anything else. Jennifer joked that we were getting old and couldn't party as hard as we used too...I won't lie, there is truth in that statement 😂😂 Saturday night we made

Anniversary/Beach mini-vacay

May 15th was my and Matt's 22 wedding anniversary. It seems impossible to think that we have been married that long, but we are blessed because it has not felt that long! With so much going on over the last few years (finishing Master's degree/foster kids/Covid/Life) we have not celebrated our anniversary over the last few years or so. This year I was DETERMINED to get away and celebrate and relax. I
knew we all needed it. We were planning to take Junior (our puppy) with us, but as it got closer we decided to find someone to watch him. I am so thankful we did because we got the break from "life" that we needed. It was not nearly long enough, but it was a fantastic time away. We were not on a schedule and we had no specific plans, mostly to hang out, reconnect, and do stuff that we love, together and that is exactly what we did.
