"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." 1 Peter 3:15

Anniversary/Beach mini-vacay

May 15th was my and Matt's 22 wedding anniversary. It seems impossible to think that we have been married that long, but we are blessed because it has not felt that long! With so much going on over the last few years (finishing Master's degree/foster kids/Covid/Life) we have not celebrated our anniversary over the last few years or so. This year I was DETERMINED to get away and celebrate and relax. I
knew we all needed it. We were planning to take Junior (our puppy) with us, but as it got closer we decided to find someone to watch him. I am so thankful we did because we got the break from "life" that we needed. It was not nearly long enough, but it was a fantastic time away. We were not on a schedule and we had no specific plans, mostly to hang out, reconnect, and do stuff that we love, together and that is exactly what we did.

We went to Myrtle Beach for a long weekend, we left here on a Thursday and came home on a Monday. Once we got there on Thursday, Matt, Kayla, and I immediately headed down to the beach to get our feet in the ocean. Elijah had had a stressful day and had a bad headache, so he chose to stay in the room by himself. That evening we just read and hung out.

Friday morning we headed to a local bookstore (of course we did!), to help support a local business πŸ˜‚
and get some more books for the summer! We went to the Bookworm and loved their selection! We spent a good hour and a half browsing. The lady who worked there kept coming up and asking if she could start a pile for us at the register. I told her I was onto her schemes, if we had empty hands we were more likely to buy more! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ She's like "No, no, I just want to help." I was laughing because I knew it would work. If I am not holding the books in my hand I will forget how much I have already picked up. Oh well, it was fun. After that, we headed a few doors to the left and supported another local business for lunch. After lunch, we headed over to Barnes and Noble to look at more books (asI said, we did what we all love!). The kids got a few books from there and Elijah had Matt buy a new Clue game. I am so glad that he did because we played it multiple times a day! Once we got back to our place we changed and headed to the beach until dinner.
After dinner, we played the new Clue game and relaxed for the evening.

Saturday morning we headed out to play Mini-Golf. It is something we do every time we go to the beach (same for bookstores, LOL). It was getting pretty warm and was a bit busy so we only played one game, but we had a blast. Lots of laughter. After that, we headed back to the hotel, had lunch, and then went back down to the beach. That evening was spent playing Clue and Spades.

On Sunday we just relaxed all day, went to the beach and played games. We had so much fun being able to play and relax without having to worry about anyone else or care for the dog. We are so thankful for the time away and I already look forward to when we can do it again. With the kids getting older and working, going to college it is going to get harder to have these moments, but we cherish them and do not take them for granted.

P.S. We also ate our weight in Krispy Kreme donuts! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
