"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." 1 Peter 3:15

Five Minute Friday-Journey

Life is a journey, full of ups and downs.

I am currently in a season where this journey has me tired beyond measure. My health. My son's health. Extended family members being diagnosed with cancer, some job transitions, daily battles, It can get to be too much, and I get overwhelmed. My doctor's keep telling to to lower my stress, but it continues to build with so many things outside of my control.

Then, I recall that Jesus also got tired on His journey.

Jacob's well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It as about noon. John 4:6

The Author and Perfector of LIFE got tired on His journey, and presumably sat down to rest, however, if we know the rest of that story, He did not rest long (we are not sure how long he sat there before the woman at the well appeared), He continued to work. But, Jesus, whose work was to do the will of the One who sent Him, invites us to give our burdens to him when we are weary. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28

It's that simple, to come to Him, and give our burdens to Him. We were never meant to have everything under our control. I imagine if I remembered this more often, and then ACTUALLY did it, I would not be so fatigued in this season.

Lord, thank you for the invitation to seek you and partake in the rest you provide when we lay our burdens down when this journey gets hard. Lord, I pray that we would seek you, and find you, but also, give you our burdens and NOT pick them back up again. God, thank you for your healing power, your incredible kindness, and the blessings we do not deserve, but you give us anything. Thank you for being a good Father, help us to lean on you and not our own strength. God, we love you and praise you, in Jesus' name, Amen.

I never gave much thought to Jesus getting tired, but you are right.
