So often on social media we see things we do not agree with and it can get us hot under the collar. Instead of scrolling on by, we take the bait and engage in a battle that is not meant for us. We need to learn not to engage in matters that don't concern us. We don't have to comment on every political post that we don't agree with. We don't have to engage in spreading all the propaganda out there. Let's make sure that what we are engaging in is being a light in this dark world. Spreading joy not things that spark debate. Engage in things that lift us and others up, not bringing us down.
Battle Belongs to You by Phil Wickam
When all I see is the battle, You see my victory
When all I see is the mountain, You see a mountain moved
And as I walk through the shadow, Your love surrounds me
There's nothing to fear now, for I am safe with You
[Chorus]
So when I fight, I'll fight on my knees
With my hands lifted high
Oh God, the battle belongs to You
And every fear I lay at Your feet
I'll sing through the night
Oh God, the battle belongs to You
[Verse 2]
And if You are for me, who can be against me? Yeah
For Jesus, there's nothing impossible for You
When all I see are the ashes, You see the beauty, thank You, God
When all I see is a cross, God, You see the еmpty tomb
[Chorus]
So when I fight, I'll fight on my knees
With my hands lifted high
Oh God, the battlе belongs to You
And every fear I lay at Your feet
I'll sing through the night
Oh God, the battle belongs to You
Nothing can stand against the power of our God
You shine in the shadow, You win every battle
Nothing can stand against the power of our God
An Almighty Fortress, You go before us
Nothing can stand against the power of our God
You shine in the shadow, You win every battle
Nothing can stand against the power of our God
An Almighty Fortress, You go before us
Nothing can stand against the power of our God
You shine in the shadows, You win every battle
Nothing can stand against the power of our God
[Chorus]
So when I fight, I'll fight on my knees
With my hands lifted high
Oh God, the battle belongs to You
And every fear I lay at Your feet
I'll sing through the night
Oh God, the battle belongs to You
Oh God, the battle belongs to You

It ain't none of my business
ReplyDeleteand so I won't engage
in all that fuss and silliness,
the hot mess and the rage
that spills out from those thwarted
("My side didn't win!")
who pose as broken-hearted
for an emotive spin.
Maybe they one day will put
on their grown-up pants,
and remove their smelly foot
from mouth to thus enhance
the possibility that healing time
might make them worthy, someday, of mine.
Andrew, I love your poems! This is so true.
Deleteso true, one really needs to think about the stuff one engages even, particularly when it comes to how we spend our time eh? FMF9
ReplyDeleteAnnette, exactly :)
DeleteI love what you said: "Let's make sure that what we are engaging in is being a light in this dark world." We have so little time! Let's make sure as believers that we are letting our light shine!
ReplyDeleteJerralea, exactly :) Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteAmen!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
DeleteSo true ,,, "Engage in things that lift us and others up, not bringing us down."
ReplyDeleteJoanne, I need a constant reminder!
DeleteThe post highlights the importance of choosing what we engage with, especially on social media, where conflict can easily arise. It encourages focusing on positivity, spreading joy, and avoiding unnecessary battles. The mention of the song *Battle Belongs to You* emphasizes finding peace through faith and surrendering our struggles to a higher power, reinforcing the idea that not every conflict is ours to fight. It’s a thoughtful reminder to engage in things that uplift and encourage, rather than stir division.
ReplyDeleteThanks Melody.
DeleteI am embarrassed how often (more than not) that I "take the bait"...and allow myself to engage and, yes, get hot under the collar. That was always their plan (or trap) and I walked right into it. Ugh!!
ReplyDeleteJennifer, I used to be the same. God's still working on us, we are a work in progress :)
