"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." 1 Peter 3:15

Another health update

So it's been a year or so since I have done an in-depth health update. The last time was when I talked about histamine intolerance and a LOT has happened since then so it's going to be another long update. My doctor had me take the Genova Diagnostics NutrEval test, which identifies nutritional deficiencies and insufficiencies.

Share Four Somethings November 2024

Hi, it's me, Cindy. I didn't mean to disappear for four months!!! I think August sprouted wings and time just went! How are we at the end of November?! I have posted a few things recently, but I am still not being very faithful to this blog. I would like to do better, but I make no promises. Time does not seem to be my own recently.

Rendezvous update 2

So, part two of the JustRead Rendezvous 2024 reader event. You can read part one here. After lunch was another reader panel. Kimberley Woodhouse was the moderator of this one. Each author had to pick one of their characters to be and only answer as that character. It was hilarious. Several authors on the panel were suspense writers, and a couple were fantasy. Sara Ella was one of the authors and I loved her answers. She was in character as Alice in Wonderland from her book The Wonderland Trials. While I had read several authors books who were on the different panels throughout the day, hearing all the authors talk and interact made me want to read their books, even though several are genres I don't read.

Rendezvous Update Part 1

Okay, you never realize how socially awkward you are until you get in a room with 200+ people! I didn't know where to sit, I just knew I wanted to sit near a door so I could make a quick exit if I needed to. I didn't know what to say to anyone I talked to and I could literally feel me closing in on myself. As the day went on I relaxed a bit more, but something about being around that many people brings out ALL my insecurities! I also don't think I used to be as socially awkward as I am now before C-vid hit. If I was, it was not as noticeable, LOL! If you are a reader I hope you get an opportunity to go to a reader's event at some point in your life. There is nothing like being with like-minded readers. It was truly an amazing experience.

Finding Jesus + Giveaway

Title: Finding Jesus: A Fun and Meaningful Countdown to Christmas

Author: Lillian Richey

Illustrator: Lauren Cox

Publisher: Finding Jesus, LLC

Genre: Christian, children

Source: Front Gate Media

My Review:

I wish Finding Jesus existed when my children were little. We love to celebrate the Christmas season with an Advent calendar, picture books, and a Jesse tree where we had ornaments that represented each scripture that was in the Jesse Tree book. For a few years we even did Elf on the Shelf.  I would have much rather my children found Jesus than Elf on the Shelf 😂!

Hidden Lake, Illinois

Last week Matt and I were in Illinois for a reader event. After spending hours in the car on Wednesday, and knowing we were going to be sitting most of the day Friday and back in the car on Saturday, we decided Thursday morning would be a great day to hike.

First of all, what is the Ohio Shop Hop? The Shop Hop event features a magazine, exclusive fabrics, giveaways, patterns and prizes. The Shop Hop starts with getting the magazine. The All Ohio Shop Hop Magazine is your guide to all things about the event. In addition, you will find patterns, articles and resources for sewing and quilting. Your magazine will include an official Passport. Regional and state maps are included in the magazine to help you plan your routes. Each year we have custom fabric designed exclusively for the All Ohio Shop Hop. The fabric is sold only at Shop Hop stores during the event.

It really is true, the older you get, the faster time goes. Even when you are trying to slow down and cherish the moments. I can't believe we are at the end of July.

Share Four Somethings-May 2024

We continue to have a lot going on, with transitions and stuff, some family members health, etc. I have been working 6 days a week since January, and I thought with quitting my nanny job I would be able to cut back, but we are still playing catch up with our sewing business, so 6 days a week is still the norm, sadly. I am hopeful that we will get caught up this month and things will be more manageable, and we go back to 5-days a week of work, but we will see.

25th Anniversary Trip

Hi Friends, this past week, Matt and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary!! It does not feel like it has been that many years!! To which we are both very thankful for 😂😂 Anyway, we decided we would not let another anniversary go by without doing anything for it. And, as this was a "big" one, we decided to go to Michigan to get away for a bit (we chose Michigan because it is a state we had not been to yet, and it was closer to home). We left Saturday afternoon, and came home Wednesday afternoon. This will be a mostly pictorial post without a lot of dialogue of what we did! We stayed in Kalamazoo and traveled from there. By the way, each time you get to a coffee picture you have entered a new day 😂.

Today is my 3rd book blogging anniversary! I can't believe how fast it has gone.

Share Four Somethings March & April 2024 editions

It has been a while since I have been on here. We have had so much going on, and I also always think I need to write a book, instead of bare bones, so then I don't write at all. Then, the devil gets in my head and tells me no one cares anyway, so yea, the
struggles are real. I have been working 6 days a week since January, and it has been HARD. It has really affected my healing from mitochondrial dysfunction and my functional medicine doctor told me in Jan & Mar I needed to quit my nanny position. I finally did and my last day was this past Monday.

Share Four Somethings-February 2024

I can't believe we are at the end of February. February passed in a blur of work and blogging. I don't feel like I did anything else this month (obviously not blogging on this blog since my last post was in January!). Hopefully, looking back over these four things, I will discover I did more than work 😂! Anyway, I am happy to be able to look back over the month and link up with Jennifer to share my Four Somethings. I will be sharing things I've loved or disliked, something accomplished, something improved upon/or needs to be improved, and something I've noticed.

Here we are at the end of January. I am torn between saying this month went quickly or slowly. Either way, it was BUSY. Anyway, I am happy to be able to look back over the month and link up with Jennifer to share my Four Somethings. I will be sharing things I've loved or disliked, something accomplished, something improved upon/or needs to be improved, and something I've noticed.

90 Day Bible Reading Challenge

I love reading nonfiction books. I don't read as many nonfiction books as I do fiction books, but I am always in a fiction and nonfiction book. I usually read my nonfiction books during my morning Bible Study time, after reading my Bible. Last year I read 38 nonfiction books, which I think might have been less than the year before. I am always looking for new (to me) nonfiction books to add to my to be read shelf.

No Word this year

Well, if you have been following along over the last few years, I pick a "word" of the year. Well, December came and went, and I didn't have time to think/pray over what word I wanted to focus on for 2024. I didn't even find the time to do New Year's resolutions.

Favorite Picture from December 2023

I am sure I am not the only one who feels like time is getting away from me. I am also sure it surprises no one that December was another busy month. Show of hands for those out there who did NOT have a busy month... There are so many things I want to do, yet I can't find the time to get them done. We are not so far into January that I can't share my favorite picture from December.
