"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." 1 Peter 3:15

Elijah-Endings and Beginnings

The title of this post should probably say "Elijah-Beginnings and Endings" but that wouldn't be in the right order. I know it's awkward but that's the way it goes 😂 This is a post on Elijah updates.

Last weekend Elijah had his LAST ever quiz meet. Since he has been doing Bible Quizzing since he was little, first children's quizzing and then teen quizzing, this is a huge chapter of his life closing.

It's also a year earlier than anticipated. Elijah is technically a junior but has all his high school credits he needs to graduate high school, so he is a senior and is graduating in May. 😲 It brings out all the feels in both of us. Saturday night, after the quiz meet, Elijah came to me with a funny look on his face and I was like what's wrong? He said, "I just realized I am becoming an adult." It's kind of funny but it's also true. He is 16, will be 17 in a few short weeks, and is becoming a mature, responsible adult. Sigh. Quizzing was also hard for him this year. He wanted to put all the effort he has put into it in previous years, but between the extra work of preparing for the ACT, a college class, Driver's Ed, the Driver's Ed test, and the tests at work, he let quizzing slide. It affected some of his friendships because he was not as competitive and made him feel a little guilty too.

Elijah is also working on getting his driver's license. With the pandemic, we got behind on when we would have liked him to start the process so he didn't get into the Driver's Ed class until October, didn't get the driving portion done until the end of January, and couldn't get into the DMV until almost the end of February. We are now working on getting his 60 hours of driving in so he can go back and get his license. He wanted to have it by summer so he could drive himself to and from work (he's sweet).

The "beginning" is that Elijah has been working hard at work and has taken tests there as well to become a Kitchen Coach. He is excited about this and I am as well. I am super proud of him for wanting to work, do a good job, and work his way up in the kitchen. He prefers working to doing schoolwork and honestly I am so thankful he wants to work!

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Colossians 3:23-24
