"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." 1 Peter 3:15

Peace-Five Minute Friday on a Monday

For some reason, when I hear peace, I want to sing "Peace, peace, God's peace" but that's not the way the song goes. It says, "Grace, grace, God’s grace, Grace that will pardon and cleanse within; Grace, grace, God’s grace, Grace that is greater than all our sin!"

I do not want to get into politics but I think something we all long for is peace. We are literally living in war times, pandemic times, and it is so hard to feel peace and unity. It's impossible to hide out from everything that is going on. Even in our own small bubbles (our homes) it seems hard to find peace because there is ALWAYS something going on.

There is a little formula that we taught our youth group and it is simply this:

Know God = Know Peace

No God = No peace

We have an anchor, we have a hope, we can have peace, and it's all because of Jesus. When we find ourselves fretting, watching the news way more than is healthy, we need to remember to fix our eyes on Jesus. My verse for this year is Hebrews 12:2-Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning it's shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

I shared this image before but it is worth sharing again, it is the amplified version of Hebrews 12:2

If you don't have peace, it isn't because someone took it from you; you gave it away. You cannot always control what happens to you, but you can control what happens in you. -John Maxwell

You will keep in perfect peace
    those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you. Isaiah 26:3 NIV

I don't know what is stealing your peace but my hope is that you will fix your eyes on Jesus. When we do the things of this world grow strangely dim.

I found a list of 15 songs that are supposed to help promote peace, you can look/listen here if interested.

This week’s Five Minute Friday writing prompt is: PEACE and I linking up with Kate. You can see what our she and our other blogger friends have to say about peace, here.
