"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." 1 Peter 3:15

Stretch-Five Minute Friday

Sometimes we have to stretch ourselves out of our comfort zone if we want to grow in our faith. Actually, I think more often than not, we need to stretch ourselves in order to grow. When we are not stretching ourselves we become stagnant and complacent. We shrivel up and stop growing...we grow lukewarm which is the worst way to be.

So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. Revelation 3:16

The message version states it this way:

I know you inside and out, and find little to my liking. You’re not cold, you’re not hot—far better to be either cold or hot! You’re stale. You’re stagnant. You make me want to vomit.

So, today, instead of staying inside your comfort zone, why don't you stretch yourself and see how you grow? It is so much better than making God want to vomit.

On Friday's I head over to Kate's blog and join up with a community of bloggers as we gather around a single word prompt, set a timer for five minutes, and freewrite for five minutes flat — no overthinking, no editing, just write! Today's word is stretch. You can click here to see what other bloggers thoughts are.

  1. interesting perspective.... stretch yourself so God won't vomit... that's actually a good motivator and perhaps something to put on a coffee mug... :) visiting from FMF24

  3. I live within my comfort zone,
    predictable, unflawed,
except that I am quite alone
and now cut off from God.
I'm not sure how I got here,
I used to have a longing
    for adventure with a clear
    focus on belonging
to the Body of the Christ,
    stepping out in boldness,
    but lately this was sacrificed
    to sidestep the coldness
    of former friends who'd denigrate
with a dark cruel joy, my faith.

    2. Cindy, I am hanging in there, but was devastated to learn today that Nightbirde, the singing cancer lady from America's Got Talent, has died. She was kinda my lodestar. I feel lost!
