My word for 2019 was intentional.
My word for 2020 was hope and you can read more about that here.
My word for 2021 was surrender you can read more about it here.
If you would like to see more about my word and how I decided upon it you can read the post here.
As I come across my word in books I am reading, I make a note of it. As I come across it in my devotionals, I make a note of it. As I come across it in social media posts I save them so I can go back later and read them again.
I have come across several things already that caught my attention:
"When we take our eyes off ourselves and focus on Him, our self-centered inadequacies vanish in the power of the I am." First5 (1/11/22) (in the "more moments" section)
"When we focus on Jesus instead of the hopelessness of our situation, we are renewed." -First 5 (1/18/22)
"As we acknowledge who the Lord is, let us turn our focus from our struggles to His holiness, knowledge and power so that we can find hope in Him." -First 5 (1/18/22) (in the "more moments" section)
One of the things I like to do is read nonfiction books that are relevant to my word. I plan to read Shift: Changing Our Focus to See the Presence of God by Abby McDonald but have not come across or know of any other books related to my word.
What is your word for the year? Where have you seen it this month? Do you know of any other books that I should read to go along with Focusing on God this year? I would LOVE some recommendations.
I am linking up with Lisa over at Lisa Notes. To see what other blogger's one word is and how they have seen it this past month, click on the link below. Even if you do not have a blog you are welcome to participate.
I love how you're already finding your word in so many different places! That is wonderful that you're taking note of it. It looks like you are practicing great focus already. :) What a great start for this year to be focusing on Jesus. Thanks for linking up and for sharing about it here.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa, I appreciate you stopping by :)

ReplyDeleteThanks Barb :)
Delete"When we take our eyes off ourselves and focus on Him, our self-centered inadequacies vanish in the power of the I am." I love this...and it is so true. You're rt. It's all about where our focus lies. This will be a jam-packed 2022 word, I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteI am sure it will and hopefully it will help me to keep my focus where it needs to be :) Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteThank you for this. What a good idea to record where you see your word. I'm going to try to add that this year. I look forward to seeing what God will do in our group this year!
