"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." 1 Peter 3:15

That's a wrap

It's official. The 2020-2021 school year is in the books! We are finished...at least the kids are! Praise God!! We will have an extra-long summer, and that is great, especially after this year! It has seemed so long but in some ways so short as well. Some highlights from this school year are our trips to Ohio to see Kayla. Other than that we really haven't done anything all year...but we are looking forward to traveling this summer.

I still have to finalize grades and Elijah's transcript. Then clean out the schoolroom from the books that we will not use again. Then start planning next year. Usually, by this point, I have some idea of what we will be doing the next year, but right now I just don't. I know we are going to put Elijah in early college and let him take some exploratory classes, just not sure if we will do it in the fall or the spring. Also not sure if he will go to SPCC as Kayla did, or CPCC. So many decisions!

So, to celebrate the end of the school year we went to a new-to-us used bookstore and shopped for a while, then headed to Krispy Kreme for donuts...isn't that how everyone celebrates the end of the school year? We have also started putting in job applications for the kids. Lots of places are hiring, just not sure if they will hire teenagers without previous job experience.

So, Elijah just finished his sophomore year and is now I junior! You all, how is my baby a junior???? I can't even!  We also got his ACT scores today, and can I tell you how proud I am of him?!!!! His score is high enough to get into college, but he will take it again, probably in the fall. He was disappointed that his English score was not a 29 like it was on his practice test πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚, it was a 26, which is still really good! He had forgotten his calculator and his math score was a 19, which was as high as his practice tests where he was using a calculator, so super proud of him there too. His math score was his lowest score, which we expected.

Kayla finished up her freshman year at college and will go back in the fall as a second-semester sophomore πŸ˜ƒ super proud of her too. She had a LOT of things happen this school year that disrupted her getting on a decent schedule at school, including several quarantines, but praise God she was healthy all year and we give Him all the glory! She made a lot of friends and things will be more normal when they go back in the fall-praising God for that too.

A few other things that have made this day good and worth celebrating is that Junior actually ate out of his new bowl twice today, it's a small victory, but I will take it! On a funny note, he really wanted Kayla's attention but couldn't seem to get it, LOL! So, she sat on the couch and he ran full-on to her and jumped up on the couch and landed on her πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ It was hilarious!!! Surprising too. Once we got him back off the couch he kept trying to jump back up there, but only succeeded in jumping sideways from one end of the couch to the other πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ he couldn't figure out why he couldn't get back up there! So funny. I hope he doesn't figure it out anytime soon. Our couch cannot handle his digging.

On yet another note, we also sold our ping-pong table today. No one had played it in a long time and we decided it was time for it to go. I was tired of dusting it, and Junior kept going in there trying to hide under it. Problem solved on both accounts πŸ˜€

Everyone keeps talking about how hard the year was, and it was, but I am SO thankful to be able to share positive things too.
