So, what is a junk journal? While there is not a true definition for it, this is what I found:
Junk Journal: A book which is often made through found and recycled materials to be used as a way to collect and record memories, thoughts, ideas, and inspiration.
One of the things I love about junk journaling is that you are reusing materials, no need to buy anything (unless you really want to). I found two notebooks I already had in the house, one never used from the dollar tree, and the other with an abandoned project, making it perfect for journal number two, LOL!
Junk journaling is right up my ally! I love pictures and memorabilia. I had small cards, stickers, and things from authors and book buddies that I didn't know what to do with. Now, they are in my book junk journal! I got a few more things in the mail yesterday and will be adding them to my journal, which is so much better than them sitting on my book cart or on a shelf in my closet, they now have a home! It is also a home to bookish quotes and whatever else I think I want to shove (uh hum, I mean put nicely) in there.
I have had the MOPS bookmark since I lived in Singapore, I don't remember exactly what year I got it, but most likely 2010. |
Oh, and in case you are wondering, my old hobby was scrapbooking. I STILL have a ton of stuff from when I was actively doing it because I HOPE to someday at least finish the scrapbooks I started for me kiddos when they were babies. Once I do that, then I can clean all that out.
I am not putting a ton of time or energy into this, but I am thrilled to be able to consolidate things down. I highly recommend reading the original article that I got the definition from. The writer is very artsy and her journals look very creative and pretty. If that intimidates you, don't look, just stick with my basic journaling, LOL!
Do you do junk journaling? Or scrapbooking? If not, is this something you would be interested in doing? Inquiring minds want to know.
Thanks for stopping by, my friends. Have a blessed day.
Cindy, I love it that you have started two junk journals! I like how we don't really buy anything to make these; instead, we use the things we already had. How wonderful that you were able to go back through your old Bible study books and pick out the most meaningful of what you have done in the past!
ReplyDeleteI will share your post with Rae who hosted the junk journaling class and I will ask that she share your post with the teacher of the class. You never know how something you do can influence someone else, I think!
Thanks Deb, it is a fun creative outlet that can be picked up or set aside, when you have time for it. It has been so good for me to work on these projects. Thanks for sharing about it!
