"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." 1 Peter 3:15

Syntagma Square

Today we headed out to Syntagma Square, looking for Hard Rock Café, which is what we really wanted to have for lunch. We took several wrong turns, looking for parking. Matt's big land cruiser on those tiny one way streets, with cars parked on them was quite stressful. We never found the Hard Rock Café, but we found McDonald's! We knew it was in the same area, but it wasn't what we were looking for. I'm not sure if the Hard Rock Café is not there or if we just didn't see it.
Matt ordered the Greek Mac, which is in a pita...He really enjoyed it.

Elijah ordered a pizza pita which he thought was super yummy. Later he had an ice cream cone.

Kayla ordered her normal cheeseburger and asked for extra pickles. The lady said "No extras."

When we had finished eating we went looking for the restroom. It was at the bottom of McDonald's (this McDonald's was three floors, the bottom was only the restroom). The restroom was locked. In order to get into it you had to enter the code that was printed on your McDonald's receipt. I have never seen anything like it, I wish now we had taken a picture of it.

After lunch we crossed this very busy intersection (again) to get back to Syntagma Square. This is a pretty busy area and a lot of demonstrations happen in this area. The big building in the back of the picture is the Greek Parliament building.

The fountain in Syntagma square with the Parliament building behind it. The Parliament building is surrounded by the National Gardens, which is where we headed after exploring this area. We saw a lot of Greek soldiers and police in this area, we should have taken a picture of the guards.

This statue is next to the Greek Parliament building.

The rest of the pictures are taken in the National Gardens.

As we were looking for the playground in the gardens, we noticed an old guy standing in the middle of the gardens, off the path and he was peeing! I felt like I was in Nairobi again! I was really disgusted. If he really had to guy that bad, he could have at least gone in an area with more trees. He was just standing in some flowers. Kayla and Matt didn't notice him, Elijah did, but I don't think he noticed what he was doing.
The playground was by far the biggest one we had seen here in Greece. Kayla and Elijah had a good time. There was plenty of shade too, which was nice.
