Elijah and I did a super quick trip to North Carolina last weekend. We got there Saturday afternoon, Sunday we rested (and I napped!), on Monday he had two appointments.
The first one was at 10:30 am where he got his braces off-praise God!! The second one was at 1:30 and he got his retainers. We headed back to Ohio after that appointment. It was a quick turn around but we are so thankful he is done! It was bittersweet though. He has been in orthodontic care for about 10 years!! So, when we left Dover Orthondontics on Monday it was like leaving a family member behind. I was sad and I think Elijah was a little bit too. Plus, neither one of us handles change extremely well, so it took a day or two to get used to him without braces!!! This kid has been through A LOT to get to this point, tons of teeth pulled, including four adult teeth.I went back and found some pictures from before braces and will end with his most recent picture of NO braces, so we can see the progression, enjoy! And, by the way, if you are one of those people who were born with perfectly straight teeth or room for all your teeth in your mouth, praise God! Seriously, praise God!! Kayla didn't have near the trouble Elijah did and we praise God for that. I also praise God that this era is over. Usually the orthodontist makes you come back two months after you get your braces off to make sure you are wearing your braces, but they are not making us do that appointment. I am praising God for that too! I am exhausted and even Elijah said the monthly trips to NC makes it hard to settle here.
