Something Loved
Like I mentioned above, Elijah started college. I have loved seeing him start this adventure. There have been many trials already, but he is doing well. The other thing I want to focus on is our family reunion. It has been 12-13 years since all my siblings and mom were together. Mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer in May, and we wanted this to happen before she gets to sick to travel. The doctors gave her a year, maybe two (I try not to dwell on this, she is only 71 and you always think you will have longer with your loved ones). Last weekend was our reunion, and everyone showed up!! It was a blast seeing everyone, taking pictures, eating good food, and just being together. Sunday I woke up super sick, so missed some family time with my older sister and her kids. I am just thankful I was not sick on Saturday or I would have missed the whole thing. Matt and I were in TN from Friday-Wednesday, the kids were only there Friday-Monday because Elijah had classes on Tuesday and Kayla needed to get back to work. So I had some extra time with my mom (she was there until Wed. as well, and we were both staying with my younger sister), and my brother (he lives close by and came over M & T), and my sister's family. I just kept my distance from them, but still enjoyed the visit. Matt and I also went to McKay's on Tuesday, I had to get out and do something, and what better than a used bookstore?! I got some great deals and had a nice book haul, I also got Elijah a nice stack of books 😂

I finished the book The Easy Bible Study Method by Ashley Armijo, and it was SO good. I had heard a lot of the information in the book, it is similar to what Jen Wilkin's teaches in her book, Women in the Word. However, there was more to it and I am so appreciative! One question that struck me was, "What differences and similarities do we share with the original audience?" (Of whatever passage of Scripture we are reading). Oftentimes, people think the Bible is outdated and doesn't apply to us. In that way, they are only thinking of how different things were in Biblical times. I think looking at the similarities is where we start to make connections and understand more about God and His character.

Obviously I already mentioned the family reunion, but I am thankful it went so well. I was also on a streak to get 300,000 steps again this month before I got sick. Now, it doesn't look likely, I still need 52,000 before the end of Tuesday. But, I am thankful that I am doing well with getting my steps each day, and once I am healthy enough, will be out pounding the pavement again. One other thing that went well this month is blogging. I have 8 posts up this month: 2 hikes, 3 Thursday encouragement posts, my year in pictures post, and the post on Elijah's college adventure. It is so refreshing to be able to get back into the routine of this blog, and not just my book blog!
I am still letting go of books. Hopefully you are not tired of hearing about it, LOL! I think I finished and got rid of 12 or so books this month. I have also started cleaning out some shirts that have gotten stained.
What is something you have loved, learned, went well, or let go of this month?? To see what other bloggers are sharing this month head over to Jennifer's blog.
That family reunion sounds like so much fun! I'm sorry to hear you've been sick though.
